In springtime there will be the start of the work on the dried flower tree in Winterthur Museum and Country Estate. It will be not so easy to gather the holiday tree.
Every year it is exhibited in honor of the owner of Winterthur, H.F. du Pont and his passion for horticulture and blooms. The coordinator of this flower project, Meredith Graves together with 5 flower designers start drying and placing blooms into storage long beforehand the tree itself is arranged.
In 2009 the tree is awaited to be the showiest as it has ever been. It is arranged in a splendid location, Port Royal. The colors of this masterpiece are inspired by Chinese wallpapers that were hand -painted in the 19th century.
The wallpaper was discovered in an English estate prior being peeled off the walls and sent to Winterthur.
Meredith Graves confesses that this year holiday tree will be very uncommon, looking like a candy. The height of the tree is nearly 10 ft and it is mantled by 3,000 stems of blossoms, 40 various types of roses, dahlias, zinnias and other not less attractive flowering plants. A festive display will be added by 800 miniature clinking lights, with a mother-of-pearl money plant atop of the tree.
