Easter Lily - Traditional Easter Flower

Easter celebrations are notable by unforgettable parades, family feasts, church services, gift-giving, egg decorating, and, of course, a well-known Easter Lily. This white flower makes stunning Easter gift with its uncommon trumpet –like blooms signifying life, purity and hope. The Easter Lily was first introduced into America by a World War I soldier named Louis Houghton. He presented plenty of the hybrid lily bulbs to his friends and relatives. By 1945, there were more than a thousand growers of the west coast growing the lily bulbs for commercial purposes.  Nowadays Easter lilies are recognized as the 4th biggest potted plant crop of America.

Lilies frequently bear the name of “White-Robed Apostles of Hope”. It is believed they were found in the Garden of Gethsemane after Christ died on the cross. Within the Easter time, churches decorate their altars and crosses with numerous Easter Lilies, to symbolize the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the hope of eternal life.
