• The General Assembly declared Yellow jessamine as the South Carolina State Flower on February 1, 1924.
• In herbal medicine the plant has been utilized for eye ailments treatment and as natural, scented oil for hair.
• Substances prepared from the roots and rhizomes of the plant have served as central nervous-system depressants, febrifuge, anodyne, and antispasmodic.
