Yellow Jessamine•    The General Assembly declared Yellow jessamine as the South Carolina State Flower on February 1, 1924.

•    In herbal medicine the plant has been utilized for eye ailments treatment and as natural, scented oil for hair.

•    Substances prepared from the roots and rhizomes of the plant have served as central nervous-system depressants, febrifuge, anodyne, and antispasmodic.

•    It is reported that all parts of the plant is very poisonous, particularly if it is consumed by livestock. Despite of this fact nice Yellow jessamine spring flowers give nectar to butterflies.

•    The essential oils of the Yellow jessamine plant are obtained for usage in the perfume industry, and its pleasing aroma is very complicated to re-create synthetically.
