Great Results of Rose Cultivation In Nagaland

Since 2004-2005 Rose Cultivation got the new trend in Nagaland, India. Since the very beginning the administration of Nagaland provided the growers with the cultivation area of 500 square m. The state’s Department of Horticulture was monitoring the cultivation and the technical innovations offered by different private companies.

This new venture has given new hopes and expectations to the local entrepreneurs. Watienla Jamir, Joint Director of Horticulture Department in Nagaland said that the major goal was to get the potentiality of growing tip-quality rose plants in Nagaland.

Thus nearly 1 ha area was created in the Yisemyong government farm, were the plants’ quality was quite good and of International standard.

In his interview Anungla, one of the rose exporters, encouraged the youth in Nagaland, saying that rose cultivation was quite profitable for growers. Nowadays the state grows more than 1.2 million stems of cut roses every year.

According to Neisakuono, local resident rose flowers are of great market value as they can be got for any special occasion; among such are decorating houses, flower- gifting and others.

Since the implementing of rose cultivation in Nagland, the state was honored by different awards for its notable achievements in the floriculture sector. This is sure to raise the economic development sector of Nagaland with the demand for first-classy roses increasing all over the world.
