Helping to Flower Pollinators

Flower PollinatorsThere are a lot of options the gardeners can choose in order to increase the number of such pollinators as bees, bats, butterflies, hummingbirds, etc.

Firstly it is advisable to make a landscape with the plants and flowers that will be attractive for the pollinators. It is better to grow the flowers producing a lot of nectar.

Butterfly bushes, Black-Eyed Susan, Milkweed, Coneflower, Queen Anne’s lace, or sunflower mainly attract bees and butterflies.  Hummingbirds are usually appealed by cardinal flower, columbine and trumpet vine.

A famous entomologist James Dill states that red-colored, trumpet-like blooms are very common for attracting pollinators. The shallow trumpet is also capable to attract small insects.

To help flower pollinators it is better not to use herbicides and insecticides. Beside of one can find a lot of non-chemical solutions for preventing the problems with insects.
