Being brought to its new home, this delicate houseplant may lose just few or even a good number of its leaves. There is now need to panic as with appropriate care, your ficus will flourish within a short period of time.
You will need to get rid of the fallen leaves, take off the yellow ones growing on the plant, and cut off dead and dry twigs. The young plant should be misted every day.
It is better to put the planter on a plant tray or saucer with gravel. Thus ficus will be supplied with the needed humidity; it will also prevent its roots from standing in water.
It is very important not to over -water the plant. To check whether your ficus needs water, you can touch the soil with your finger tip. If it seems dry to the touch 1 in beneath the surface, the plant should be watered.
However is the soil is not dry do not water the plant for a couple of days. By the way, during the winter time ficus requires less watering.
Note the plant will thrive in a bright place with indirect light, far from drafts and big windows that alter temperature during the day. And, finally, fertilize your ficus once a month throughout the growing season, and do not fertilize it in the winter time.
