The Santa Maria City Council has banned the sales by sidewalk flower sellers during holidays. As the matter of fact, many of flower shops in the town get losses due to street flower sellers, especially during the holidays.
The results of the voting taken place on January, 19, are five to zero. Thus, the council assigned the ordinance forbidding sidewalk sales of blooms on the occasion of the Valentine’s Day holiday. Ban will be in effect for 1, 5 months.
Afterwards the council is planning to gather for the 2nd time and consider if the ordinance should be changed to the permanent one.
