Believe or not but winter is the very time to search the options on how to keep your garden bright even during the cold winter days. I will give you some good examples of the flowering plants that will be a pleasure to behold in your winter garden.

• The Chimonanthus praecox or Japanese allspice thieves in winter the most. This attractive plant bears aromatic crimson and yellow blossoms. But after the end of the flowering, Japanese allspice can be rather ‘gray’ in appearance.

• Edgeworthia chrysantha or Paper Bush is worth trying to grow. From winter to spring this shrub produces spectacular yellowish blossoms. • The Sarcococca confuse that is commonly known as Christmas box or Sweet box is a nice shrub with dense leaves. Starting from the winter it produces miniature fragrant blooms in white colors that are followed by black berries. This plant can be grown both in sun or shade and is splendid indeed.
