The Lunar New Year Without Traditional Blooms in Vietnam

Lunar New Year Traditional Blooms in VietnamThe majority of people In Han Noi are making preparations for the Lunar New Year, which falls on January, 26. People are concerned by the fact that in all probabilities there will be no blooms enough for this festivity.

The main reason is an abundance of rains in November, 2008.

According to Mai Lan, a main whole dealer of one of the largest flower shops in Ha Noi’s, due to the rains the blooms would be able to end up costing nearly double the cost in 2009.

He says that the main flower suppliers from neighboring locations Hung Yen and Dong Nai are not capable to provide as many blooms as it is demanded indeed.

And she has had to sign on the contracts with Thailand’s and Chinese suppliers. Though the blooms brought from China are not as nice as the flowers from Thailand, they cost less.

Lan makes prediction that instead of purchasing traditional flowers- kumquat and peach blossom- the majority of people will select orchids or apricots.
