Cosmos
Meaning: Modesty
Having the botanical name of Cosmos bipinnatus, Cosmos represents the genus from the family Asteraceae. It includes more than 25 species of annuals and perennials inhabiting in meadow regions of Mexico, the southern and Central America.
The flower was named Cosmos by Spanish priests growing the attractive blooms in their gardens of Mexico.
The plants may have from 30 cm up to2 m in length. Their plain leaves are either pinnate or bi-pinnate, being formed in opposite pairs. The blooms are borne in a capitulum with a ring of wide ray florets and the central disc florets in a vast array of colors and shades.
The blooming time is summer and early autumn.This October birth’s flower makes perfect ornamental plant.
