Crocus



Meaning: Youthful Gladness, Attachment, Cheerfulness.

Crocus represents the genus of herbaceous plants from herbs the Iridaceae family (the Iris one). The genus comprises more than 74 perennial flowering plants, inhabiting in the coasts and sub alpines of central and southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, across Central Asia to western China.

These perennial plants grow from corms. They bear cup-like blooms tapering off into a narrow tube. The blossoms are available in white, yellowish, lilac, purple, saffron and mauve colors.

The grass-resembling leaves feature a white-colored central stripe along the leaf axis. Almost all species own three stamens. The crocuses are one of the 1st springtime plants.

It is said that this attractive bloom was referred to the special day for lovers.
