Forsythia - Golden Bells



Meaning: Anticipation, Good nature, Innocence

Forsythia represents common name and botanical name of a plant genus falling into the family Oleaceae (olive).The genus includes more than 11 species; the majority of them inhabit in eastern Asia, but the one specie thieves in southeastern Europe.

Forsythias are the woody greenish bushes that are usually trained into hedges. Forsythias form yellow-colored blossoms and deep-green leaves. Their flowering time is in the early spring.

The flowers appear before the foliage forming a four-lobed corolla with the petals being joined just at the base. The plant got its name in honor of William Forsyth.

The shrubs may reach the length of 1–3 meters having the grey-brownish bark. The leaves are formed opposite, being usually plain. However one can come across the trifoliate leaves having the basal pair of tiny leaflets.
