Golden Wattle



The botanical name of this perennial is Acacia pycnantha; it belongs to the Mimosaceae family. The plant is also called the Golden wattle referring to the color of its blooms. Wattle is widely spread in Australia. There are 750 various types of wattle plant.

The plant produces rich green leaves and spectacular yellow blossoms, which are followed by brownish fruits or seeds. The active blooming time is summer: fruit and seed production begins in summer and goes on till autumn. Wattle is an evergreen tree. A mature plant’s length is 20 ft; it is the maximum height of the 20 years -plant.

Nowadays the tree’s wood is utilized today for furniture- making. Long ago wattle has been displayed in coins and recognized as the token of developing literature. The national floral emblem of Australia is Golden Wattle. The 1st of September is the Wattle held in this country.
