Meaning: Friendship, Wedded love, Fidelity, Friendship, Affection

This trailing plant represents the genus Hedera from the family Araliaceae. The genus compises 15 species of climbing or land-creeping woody plants that remain green during the whole winter season. They are the inhabitants of the Atlantic Islands, western, central and southern Europe, northwestern Africa, central-southern Asia and Japan.

These plants are capable to climb to 30 meters above the ground level.Ivies are distinguished by two kinds of leaves. They are lobed juvenile leaves on creeping and climbing stems, and unlobed mature leaves on blooming stems. The flowering time is late fall.

The blossoms have the diameter of 3–5 cm and come in greenish-yellow colors. They are notable by nectar produced in large quantities. Ivies bear tiny black-colored berries that ripe from January to February.

Ivies are immensely cultivated for their uncommon appearance and attracting leaves that remain green during the whole winter season. They are also used to cover walls.
