Maackia



Maackia represents a genus consisting of more than 10 species of deciduous trees and plants from the family Fabaceae, native to eastern Asia. The genus got its name in honor of the botanist Richard Maack.

Maackia trees may be either small- or medium-sized.  The maximum length they can reach is 10 m. Their complex leaves are pinnate, formed from 7-17 leaflets. The flowers bloom in race memes that may be 5-20 cm in length. They are clustered having the shape of butterfly. They come in white, yellow, or green colors and cues. The fruit represents a flat pod with the length of 3-8 cm long. It may have from 1 to 6 seeds. Its foliage is formed by opposite paired leaves.

One of the popular species is M. taiwanensis that inhabits in Taiwan. Amur Naackia (M. amurensis) native to Amur river location.
