Vinca or Periwinkle represents a genus comprising 5 species of heraceous plants or sub shrubs from the family Apocynaceae. Its species originate from Europe, northwest Africa and southwest Asia.
The plant has slim trailing stems in length of 1-2 m. They are not capable to grow over 20-70 cm (above ground. Vinca produces opposite arranged leaves that are plain and narrow, having the lance-like to ovate shape.
They have the length of 1-9 and width of 0.5-6 cm. they are evergreen in four species,Just one species is deciduous ( Vinca. herbacea), the rest remain green during the whole winter season. Periwinkle forms plain 5-petal blooms, blooming throughout the whole year. They have the diameter of 2.5-7 cm . The petals typically come in violet color being united together at the base to make a tube.
