Yellow Nutsedge



Yellow Nutsedge is botanically known as Cyperus esculentus; it is the member of the sedge family. This perennial, grass-resembling weed thieves almost in any part of the world.

Yellow Nutsedge plant bears glossy, yellow-greenish leaves in the shape of the letter V. They occur, from the ground grouped in three. In the lawn the plant grows two times as quick as the fastest growing lawn grass.

The mature Cyperus reaches the length of 18 in. It bears pale lemon blooms set up in an umbrella like inflorescence. About 10-14 days after blooming, seeds are formed.
 
Yellow Nutsedge distribute by means of slim rhizome moving in any direction from the original location.  A nutlet is borne at the end of every rhizome; it will give rise to new plants the following season.
