Zebra Plant



The botanical name of the plant is Aphelandra Squarrosa 'Louisae', while it commonly called Zebra Plant. This woody shrub originates from Brazil. In its native inhabitat it thiebes as a flowering houseplant, being very rarely met in length tat is more than 1 foot.

This spendid houseplant represents acanthus family. It has a lot of common characteristics with other family representatives; they are various- colored marks on veins of the foliage and blooms produced on typical terminal spikes.

The plant produces oval-shaped leaves featuring a pointed tip. They are formed in pairs on a thickened, purple-shaded stem.  The leaf blade comes in vivid waxy green, it bears the midrib and the veins tinted in a splendid creamy-white contrast.

The blooms are borne at the stem’s terminals in a four-sided yellowish spike. They come in yellow color with two lips, persisting just for a couple of days. The spectacular bract stays magnetic for 1,5 -2 months.
