Begonia got its name after Michel Begon, who was the governor of Santo Domingo in the 18th century. Its common names are Winter-flowering Begonia, Rieger Begonia, Wax Begonia, Tuberous Begonia.
It represents the genus of the blooming plant family Begoniaceae. It counts mote than 900 species inhabiting in such tropical climates as Central and South America, southern Asia and Africa.
Mainly this plant is grown and cultivated due to its asymmetrical leaves and bright colorful blooms. The flowers look showy and large. Its blossoms are available in such colors as white, pink, red, orange and yellow.
Blossoms may last from 5 to 7 days; Begonia’s plants can bloom and last for a lot of months if being cared in a proper way.
