Bearing the common name of Hellebores, the representatives of the genus Helleborus include nearly 20 species of herbaceous flowering plants belonging to the family Ranunculaceae. The perennials grow in the most locations of Europe.
It should be noted that plenty of species are poisonous.
Its blooms are made of 5 sepals that surround a ring of tiny, cup-resembling petals altered for holding nectar. The sepals typically do not die off, persisting on the hellebores for plenty of months.
Despite the blooms of some species may look like wild roses, hellebores do not relate to the rose family.
Today these splendid flowering plants are immensely grown in gardens as ornamentals, highly appraised for their blooming time that is in winter and early spring seasons. Hellebores bear frost and plenty of its species bear green foliage remaining even during the whole winter.
