The pronunciation of the flower is Le-MOHN-ium which is derived from the Greek word ‘leimon’, meaning ‘meadow’. Its alternative name is Sea Lavender that is referred to the plant’s lilac flowers and its growing in coastland areas. It is also called Statice that is referred to its appearance changing throughout blossoming. It is believed that the flower brings success and good luck.
Statice has Mediterranean origin and is the member of to the Plumbaginaceae family. Today the flower is grown throughout the world in a vast variety of shades, colors, textures and sizes.
Nowadays the flower is available at any season of the year in white, pink, rose, yellow, apricot, peach, lavender, blue, red, carmine and purple colors. If it is cut it may last for 7-14 days.
