Flower Festival in Baguio, Philippine

The 14th Panagbenga or Baguio Flower Festival will last for 30 days. One of its major attractions will be parade that is planned on the 28th of February; the float parade will take place on the 1st of March.

This Sunday about one hundred of schoolboys and schoolgirls from seventeen elementary schools of Baguio dressed up outfits in mainly yellow, orange and green colors. Children from the Doña Aurora Elementary school wore colorful butterfly wings and blouses in green. Others took place in the dancing activity carrying big petals around their necks.

By the way the majority of them made their outfits from recycled materials such as sack, juice box and others. As the matter of fact Recycling is one of the major school issues.

According Wilfredo Franco, city police director and chair of the festival’s peace and order committee there were nearly five thousands of Baguio inhabitants along with other visitors watching Sunday parade opening Flower Festival in the city.

Leaders from Barangay, many sellers and other groups cleaned up the city streets from Saturday night up to Sunday morning hours. Thus they made preparations to such a great show in Baguio. On Sunday “Market Encounter,” that is bazaar hosted every year was started at the skating rink of Burnham Park.

A floating parade at Burnham Lake is planned on the very day of all lovers that is the 14th of February.  Beside of any visitor will be able to enjoy outstanding concerts bearing the name of “Abanao Nights.” in February, 26-28.
