Despite the dainty appearance of daisy flowers, they do not need much care. They can grow in any well-drained soil. Now I am going to give you some tips on their growing and care.
• Do not let the soil be always wet. It should be watered early in the morning to be able to dry a bit during the day hours. Water it well, particularly, when the plant is in flower. However do not allow the container to sit in water.
• A well-drained soil will promote active growth of carnation. Gerbera daisies grow well in full sunlight; a shady spot can cause the lack of flowers on the plant. If it is in container, place it in a sunny spot.
• Plant the seeds nearly 2,5 months prior the last frosty day. Their terminals should be pointed downwards. By the way, the seeds can be planted in containers and kept indoors during the frosty weather. When it is warmer you can replace the containers outdoors, usually it is in April.
• Being grown in your garden the plants require much water and fertilized soil. It is better to go for the mixture of free draining soil.
• When transplanting gerbera from the container to another one, make sure its crown is above the oils surface.
• During summertime I advise you to add into the soil a weak liquid fertilizer at least two times a month.
• To ensure further blooming, constantly take off the faded blossoms.
• The indoor daisy plants are able to bloom during the whole year. Remember to take off old foliage; thus fungus infections will be not let develop.
