Geranium
Meaning: Friendship
Geranium represents the generic and common name and belongs to the family Geraniaceae (geranium family). Its genus comprises about 422 species of annual, biennial, and perennial plants inhabiting in the temperate areas and the mountainous tropics, but their majority thieve in the eastern part of the Mediterranean.
The flowers got their name "cranesbill» in the reference with the look of the heads of seeds. They are bill of a crane-like and remain green during the whole winter season.
Geranium has long cleft leaves that are widely circular in shaped. Its five-petal- blooms can be found in rose, pink, blue, purple, salmon and white colors. The plant can bear either single or double blossoms. Their colors are variegated; the petals are mostly veined or blotched.
They serve as bedding and ornamental plants. Geranium’s leaves and blooms produce the fragrant oil that is widely used in perfume industry and as flavoring.
