Kousa Dogwood
The plant is capable to attain the length from18 to 20 feet in height with nearly the same spread. In case it grows in perfect growth conditions Kousa can reach 30 ft high.
Kousa plant bears insignificant flowers, which are, in fact, are the colorful bracts. They come in creamy white color, having up to 2 in long nearly 1 in across. They are borne upright along the extending branches. When the bracts fade, they turn to pink, lasting for1-1, 5 months.
Kousa is commonly called as Japanese dogwood. However this attractive plant flowers later than its relatives. During the growing season, the Kousa Dogwood captures one’s attention by its elegant beauty. It can be noticed especially in the late summer and autumn- the time when the fruits ripen.
The Kousa's berries are an uncommon exotic-looking fruit, resembling strawberry. In August the get the color of a wine red that lasts just for 1, 5 2 months. Its vivid autumn foliage provides the fantastic background for seeing the bright fruits.
It is widely used in landscaping.
