Silverbell



Halesia tetraptera is commonly known under the names Common Silverbell or Carolina Silverbell. Belonging to the family Styracaceae, it originates from the southeastern America.

This small to medium sized deciduous tree is capable to attain the height from 30' to 40'. Its irregular shape is usually round and broad. It is interesting the tree’s branches frequently start growing low on the trunk.

Carolina Silverbell produces deep green leaves that are alternatively arranged. They are simple with the length of 2" to 5" and width of 1" to 2.5". The blooming time for this plant takes plant in May.

It gives rise to attractive white blooms in the shape of a bell. They grow in clustered – up to five blooms per one cluster.  The flowers are typically folloed by oblong fruit in green becoming tan. The fruit remain during the whole wintertime.

Common Silverbell is valued for its spectacular spring blossom; it makes perfect patio.
