Yoshino Cherry



The Yoshino cherries or Prunus x yedoensis represents small-sized trees, having the length and spread of about 25 -30 ft. The plant trunks are featured with typical horizontal lines resulted by a distortion of the bark because of the presence of lenticels and glands providing air exchange for the trunk.

The tree produces light pink or white blooms made of 5 petals. The flowers are noted by slight scent.  They are formed in a cluster of 4 flowers on peduncles. The blooming time is from early to the middle of April. The flowers are followed by glossy black fruit that may be consumed. Its length is about o, 5 in long with a big pit.
